Biluochun is produced in Dongting Mountain, Taihu Lake, Jiangsu Province, and is one of China's famous green teas.
Biluochun is also called "scary fragrance". According to legend, during the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, one year, the tea trees on Biluo Peak in Dongting East Mountain grew particularly lush. The tea picked by the tea-picking girls could not fit in the bamboo baskets, so they put the extra tea in their arms. The hot steam of the tea exuded a strange fragrance, and the tea-picking girls shouted "scary fragrance" (Wuzhong dialect), and this tea got its name.
Later, Emperor Kangxi went to the south of the Yangtze River, and the governor Song Lu presented this tea to Emperor Kangxi. Emperor Kangxi praised the tea, but felt that the name was not elegant, so he picked it on Biluo Peak. The tea is green, the shape is like a snail, and it is picked in early spring, so he called it "Biluochun". From then on, Biluochun tea became a treasure among the tribute teas over the years.
